The Doctor from the miracle cancer case of Mr. Wright – Dr. Philip West – vanished from history just before the world heard the story of Mr. Wright. What happened to him?
Did he decide to quit medical research – the only work he’d ever known?
Is it just a coincidence that he dropped off the record during the "Lavender Scare" of the 1950’s – the government persecution of homosexuals – just after he joined a study which helped normalize homosexuality in the eyes of science?
Searching for Dr. West unexpectedly took me through a dark period of American History where I learned about a few brave men and women who risked everything to help change the world.
