A swinging pendulum that swings though the focal point of a parabolic mirror – a toy from 1976! When the red ball is at the focal point, its reflection fills the whole mirror!

A hook for your hat or maybe coat. Part of a wooden carved parrot. And when you hang something on the hook, the bird lifts its wings. So Tim decides he can safely take his hat off!

A scary skeleton coffin that snatches your money when placed on the coffin!

A Scottish toy – not Jack-in-a-Box but Jock-in-a-Box! ‘Jock’ being a kind of nick name for someone from Scotland.

A version of Tumbling Blocks or Jacob’s Ladder. This was the first version of this toy that Tim bought. Since then he has bought about 24 versions of this toy!

A toy called RUSH HOUR. A Perspex box with a number of sloping levels inside, and a lot of very small ball bearings. Turn it upside down and the ball bearings roll down from one level to another, until they have all reached the bottom.

Finally, a most unusual toy. A black box with tiny holes in each side. When you switch it on, you get a mesmerising light display. Lift the top off to see the mechanism. Batteries drive a little motor, which causes the music box to play a tune (the theme from the film ‘The Godfather’) and a little rotor revolves, with three LED lights. These lights interact with the grid of holes in the sides of the box to give a fascination effect.
