From Global News.
In Nigeria, at least thirty-two people were killed in stampedes during Christmas charity events on Saturday, authorities said.
Twenty-two people died at a food distribution event in southeastern Anambra, while another ten lost their lives in a similar event in the capital, Abuja.
According to police, many victims collapsed as crowds surged while desperately trying to obtain the food items being distributed.
This is not the first charity event in the country to turn deadly; it follows a tragic incident on Friday in which several children were killed. Nigerians are urging authorities to implement better safety measures at future events.
