Canada’s consul general defended himself Thursday against claims he lied about pushing the government to buy a luxury condominium in Manhattan.

Tom Clark was summoned back to a Parliamentary committee, to answer questions about whether he exerted influence on Global Affairs Canada to buy the $9 million condo.

Documents show he raised concerns about the original residence, but Clark insists he made the comments in passing.
