From A Better Question.

Business magazines say 88% of millionaires are self-made, and Forbes says 60% of the Forbes 400 are self-made, but neither are true.

That 88% is the number of millionaires who self-identify as self-made (millionaires also commonly think they’re in the middle class…), and only 35% of Forbes list come from backgrounds even close to what 90% of Americans experience.

So is anyone self-made?

I try to answer that using a personal example of luck and circumstances play a huge role in determining our success.
