From A Better Question.

The 2022 Texas GOP Party Platform contains more than just a call to secede, to control access to reproductive healthcare, to ban gun control, and to install religious views as law – it outlines a plan to accomplish all of those things by controlling elections and by changing the Texas Constitution.

Depending on the midterm election results – Republicans in the Texas Legislature plan to make it easier to amend the state constitution before installing a statewide electoral college system to appoint all state offices. A plan which seems far-fetched, but is in the official party platform among dozens of other extreme goals the party is already pursuing. Goals which may be impossible to accomplish without first changing how laws are made, and elections are won, in Texas.
